It's unfortunate, because the basic format was handled really well, and while I enjoyed what was there, it was inherently unsatisfying due to a lack of focus and closure.ģ/5, probably 4/5 if it were not abandoned. The last player standing when the dust settles is declared the winner Worms Special Edition features up to four player offline multi-player destruction. Worms Reloaded is a strategy game developed and published by Team17. That this story is abandoned isn't a surprise - it basically ran out of gas, and I'm sure that the author struggled to find new ground to cover. This format lends itself to a short form, very concise story. I think the "real time" interludes from the news postings were the author's attempt at doing this, to keep things lively by putting some characters in harm's way, but they fall flat due to the deterministic nature of Taylor's power and the fact that they are more or less one offs, so there's no real sense of investment in them for me - I would have preferred the POV of a character with an antagonistic relationship with Taylor if anything, balking against the idea that the future is set in stone unless you have access to Taylor's power. Where this story loses some points is that there really aren't any stakes - the narrative itself is not the focus of the story it's all about the meta-narrative of what Taylor's existence as a precog entails and how that influences t, and Taylor is essentially omniscient here, so we really needed a fixed POV character that can stand-in for the audience and be somebody we can invest emotional energy into. The style of news reporting lends itself to opening up the audience's imagination in a really effective way - I found myself actually enjoying filling in the gaps that the news stories leave and I think that there's a really good balance of how much is shown to the audience vs. The bits of story here that aren't conveyed through the medium of the PHO news posts are the weakest.

The game was the first in the series to be in 3D and also. It also features a brand-new cover by Frank Noble. To top it all off, there is also a highly-involving Worms single-player experience with tutorials. I'll echo everyone else saying this is one of the best uses of this format I've seen. Worms 3D is an artillery2 strategy game in the Worms series. Worms Special Edition features up to four player offline multi-player destruction, a raft of crazy new and classic Worms weapons, all new high-definition landscape themes, new landscape editor, new play modes, hats, forts, skins and speech banks.
